I've been doing web design for over 6 years now! I started teaching myself when I owned a small home-based business designing and manufacturing infant carriers. I needed a web site and with the help of a friend I learned the basics, I was hooked! Soon other small home-based moms started asking me to help them as well.
I have always been inclined towards the artistic fields, web design allowed me to create art that others could interact with! I enrolled at the Art Institute to study web and graphic design and graduated in 2007. At the same time I sold my infant carrier design to a Canadian manufacturer and focused my time on diving head first into starting a web design business.
While I LOVE designing, especially for small businesses, last year I did cut back on the number of web design clients I work with at a time. Like many things, life gets busy and we have to prioritize! If you are dieing to have me (aka: Web Savvy Mama) design your web site, it's a good idea to check in advance to see what my availability is and if a wait list is currently being used. More information on my web design services can be found at Web Savvy Mama (dot) com.
**Update: Web Savvy Mama is currently closed as my other commitments take up the majority of my time presently.
She looks familiar, eh? This illustrated character is my signature persona that you will see on all my web sites. Yes, I do logos and illustrations as well!

I've loved to capture the world around me for as long as I can remember! At first, and most reliably, I drew everything I saw. I marvled at the small details and was always looking at things from a different perspective. Eventually (ok so I didn't really have to wait long, I was probably about 11 years old) my parents gave me a simple 110 camera. Remember those? I started snapping pictures of everything in sight. I was amazed that objects were captured in time and I could save them forever.
Through the years I continued to take pictures to save the memories I was experiencing, I then took photography classes later on. When digital cameras became available I was in heaven, I could now take as many pictures as I wanted without spending my entire paycheck on developing film!
My husband also enjoys photography and together we've been having a blast learning even more. Photography has become a family activity with the kids begging to go take star pictures and spend hours on extensive time lapses. Each member of the family has their own unique view of the world and photography is the perfect way to express it.

Yes, I'm Kristine, but who really is Kristine? For starters, I'm a mom of three energetic children and live with my husband, kids and two large dogs in northern Minnesota.
When I'm not designing websites or out snapping photos with the family; I'm busy running the kids to activities, going to school and yes, working as well. Our children keep me plenty busy alone, they currently range from 8 years to 12 years old. Outside of running the kids to every sport and activity imaginable, I am also back in school. I joke that I will spend the rest of my life in college, I just haven't decided what I want to do when I grow up. I first went to school for early childhood topics, and then web and graphic design, and finally to study nursing and become and LPN. Currently, I practice as an LPN at a Northern MN hospital and really enjoy what I do. But wait, yes, I'm still in school. Yes, quite a variety! Where it will take me I'm not sure yet, but the journey will be a fun one! I do take time to relax though! When we aren't exploring the North Shore on Lake Superior or chasing Auroras in the fridgid MN nights, you can find me curled up with a book, totally oblivious to the world! |
More ramblings of this sleep-deprived mom can be found on my Web Savvy Mama blog, where I'm constantly asking "What do you want to learn today?" |
